About UPG Catalytic Team

In 2020, the world of missions underwent significant transformations, with numerous mission organizations encountering unprecedented obstacles. Sudden governmental restrictions in various countries abruptly limited these organizations’ access to extensive populations of unreached or unengaged people groups. While some expatriates have begun re-entering these mission fields, they are under close scrutiny. It is now evident that the primary responsibility for the vital work formerly led by expatriate missionaries has fundamentally shifted to national believers residing in proximity to these unreached communities.

Enter the UPG Catalytic Team, a dynamic initiative with a mission to connect and empower national leaders. Our goal is to embolden, train, and equip them to become strategic leaders as they reach out to various Unreached People Groups (UPGs) and Unengaged Unreached People Groups (UUPGs) in places where Western missionaries can no longer go.

We invite you to join us in this crucial mission to reach those who have never heard the gospel with the good news that there is a God who loves them deeply and eternally, and His name is Jesus!

National Leader Development

Effort Image

Our goal is to empower and mentor national leaders to take the lead within their respective national teams for Unreached People Group (UPG) initiatives. Your gift will underwrite the costs of training sessions to set them up for success. Each training session costs approximately $6,000, and we intend to organize two leadership training events this year, each involving approximately 50 leaders.

Reaching Youth and Young Adults

Effort Image

In East Asia, one of the most underserved and unreached demographics is youth under 18. Your gift will train frontline teams to engage unreached youth and urban young adults (ages 18 to 30) for evangelism and discipleship. We will send qualified trainers to work alongside national workers, facilitating six training events by mid-year. After the training, your gift will provide ongoing support and help them organize and launch ten local events.

Discipling and Empowering UPG Workers

We are committed to the spiritual growth and development of our UPG workers to prevent ministry burnout. To this end, your gift will offer comprehensive training sessions at selected locations, featuring four discipleship trainers' encouragement and equipping events this year.

Healthy Church Planting

Our mission also focuses on equipping and empowering nationals to establish thriving, reproducing churches. Your gift will catalyze and support the establishment of at least one UPG church within an unreached people group, fostering spiritual growth and community development among a UPG.

Engaging UPGs requires sustainable access. Your gift will offer business training and essential resources to promote the establishment of reproducible micro-businesses within Unreached People Groups, fostering opportunities for gospel engagement and community development.

UPG Host Family Kingdom Partnership

Your gift will organize training sessions about kingdom partnership for our UPG partners who can host national missional units in restricted regions. We will provide guidance and support for the families receiving these units in inland areas through mentorship and coaching.

National Scripture Planting Trainings

In East Asia, hundreds of UPGs have never encountered the gospel and also lack even a single verse of the Bible in their native language. With your gift, we will assemble and train two teams of Scripture planters to translate gospel stories and Scripture into the heart language of these bibleless UPGs, using the latest technologies. Your partnership will ensure that these tribes hear the words of Jesus for the very first time.

Goal Amount

The goal represents the cost of our team’s ministry activities for this calendar year. The Cooperative Program and Lottie Moon Christmas Offering® (LMCO) fully fund our living expenses. The goal amount resets every January 1st. All gifts completed through this form are directed to our team’s ministry strategy.

Team Efforts

Giving to one of our specific team efforts allows us to know what you are excited to see God complete within our ministry. Occasionally, we may need to redeploy gifts within our team strategy as urgent opportunities arise, as we do our best to follow God's leading, or adjust to changing international contexts. Any gifts received beyond the posted goal go toward a similar project or our team support.

Team Support

Our living expenses are fully provided by generous churches and individuals participating in the Cooperative Program and Lottie Moon Christmas Offering® (LMCO). These gifts enable us to remain on mission without interruption. Your support is a partnership with these churches, providing for us and our colleagues through LMCO. Our team receives recognition when partners give below to make our presence here possible.
