People Group Profile: Bihari Muslims of India
 Pronounced bee-har-ee, the Bihari Muslims are a people about whom no one cares. The state of Bihar in India, from which they come, often is described as backwards, illiterate, corrupt, dirty, poor and neglected. Bihari Muslims are a minority there among the predominantly Hindu population. Seeking work in large cities, Bihari Muslims operate rickshaws, repair used clothing for resale, and sell cookware door to door. Only a handful of India’s 16.5 million Bihari Muslims have become Christians. Another 1 million Bihari Muslims are living without Christ in refugee camps in Bangladesh. Scriptures are available in some Bihari Muslim languages, but their low literacy rate makes a personal witness the best way to hear about Christ. Read more . . .

1. Please pray for
M, a 3-year-old Bihari girl whose body does not want to absorb fat and protein. Pray that with her special diet, she will continue to grow physically and spiritually. M’s father, P, a former Bihari Muslim, longs to bring other Bihari to faith in Jesus and plant churches.
2. Pray for
B, a new Bihari believer, who learned about Jesus as Savior by listening to Christian radio broadcasts. P, a producer of the broadcasts, recently was able to visit B and encourage him in person. P writes, “He is strong in his faith, but he is unable to read and write. I will send him audiocassettes of the Bible and CDs of my program, that he can know more about the Lord.” Please also pray for B’s family, especially his two sisters.
Your prayers are effective in drawing Bihari Muslims to salvation through Jesus!
