People Group Profile: Udmurt of Russia _top
The Udmurt people group of Russia is one of the largest ethnic minority groups in the country. A typical Udmurt home is led by the woman of the family while men struggle with a lack of motivation to work and are dying of alcoholism. Constant struggles with depression lead to suicide, especially for young people with unrealistic expectations for their futures. They are hopeless, aimless and spiritually poor in the midst of false gods and traditions. Read more . . .

Prayer Points for the Udmurt
_top
1. The Udmurt are known as “people of the woods,” possibly because of their skill in wood-carving. In the past, the Udmurt people carved wooden images and exalted them as gods. Even today, many are leery of these images. Pray for God to send laborers to tell the Udmert about Himself so they can worship the One who created the trees!
2. Pray for the few Udmurt believers who are struggling to share their faith with their countrymen. Pray that they will find people of peace among the Udmurt and that God will use these people of peace to open new doors for bringing the Gospel to the lost among the Udmert.

Bible Study: The Maze of Faith
_top
By a Christian worker in South Asia
I often take walks around our city early in the mornings when my schedule allows. I’ve discovered mornings are my favorite time because of the incredible amount of activity that is already happening. The vegetable shops are bustling as most people buy their veggies fresh daily for their rice/bean/vegetable meals that day. Some women are sweeping their dirt—yes, I said sweeping their dirt—it’s important that the area immediately in front of their gate or door is tidy (dirt can be swept amazingly clean!) and people are engaging with one another. In this incredible maze of a city, relationships are very important to them.
One morning, I decided to venture down a path I’d not been down before. Our city is very much like a maze—it was in no way built with vehicles in mind and there seemed to be no city planner present when it was actually laid out! So, often you have to ask “Where does this road go?” I asked this of a young woman cooking her morning meal on the side of the road and her answer was, “If you go this way, it comes out at the top of the hill where everyone washes, if you take the other path it comes out on the ring road”. She smiled said goodbye and left it to me to choose my path. So, being up for the hill I took the uphill direction.
As I was climbing the hill, the discussion I’d just had reminded me of our spiritual journey. It’s often such a maze and we have so many choices of paths to go down. We can choose the uphill one or the one that goes around the other stuff. Neither is necessarily wrong, both will eventually get us where we need to go, but there is a choice to be made. It really made me think about the maze of my own life. The choices we are currently facing, which path to go down, where to place our energies and our focus. I rest in the fact that He will go with us down whichever path in our maze we end up choosing. Give some consideration to your own “spiritual mazes” you’re currently in. Remember He is with us always---even to the ends of the earth.
