People Group Focus: Oromo of Ethiopia
The Southern Oromo, also called the Boran or Galla, are the largest, most widely dispersed people group in Ethiopia. The Southern Oromo are herdsmen with a warrior tradition. They determine a man's status by the number of livestock he owns. Despite their history as warriors, the Oromo have a reputation for being easygoing and sociable.
Today, there is a great need for Christian workers among the Southern Oromo. Also, leadership training and discipleship of new believers is critical if growth is to continue, and new churches are to be planted. Read more . . .

Prayer Points for the Oromo

  1. Pray that the Lord of the Harvest would call Ethiopian Christians to work among the Oromo of Ethiopia.
  2. Ask the Holy Spirit to grant wisdom and favor to the church planters that are focusing on the Oromo.
  3. Ask God to anoint the Gospel as it goes forth via radio in their area.
  4. Ask God to raise up prayer teams who will begin breaking up the soil through worship and intercession.

Missions Bible Study: 'WIGTAKE'

Are you willing to do whatever it's going to take to make sure the message of the Gospel gets to all the peoples on the earth - even those in hard to reach or "scary" places? Not all IMB missionaries were committed to that vision until God changed their hearts, much like he changed the Apostle Paul's heart. IMB President Jerry Rankin contends that Paul's WIGTAKE attitude - whatever it's going to take - changed the New Testament world. He says that you and I are the Paul's for this generation. See if you're ready for the challenge . . .
