People Group Focus: Jingpo people of China

The Jinpo people live in the Yunnan province of China (on the map the purple region in Southwestern China) and are thought to be about 20 percent Christian. Animism is the other dominant religion among the Jingpo. One of their traditions centers around wine which is important to the Jingpo and is served to guests and shared by friends and acquaintances. They usually carry the wine in a bamboo tube that is never completely emptied, symbolizing that the wine will never be exhausted. Read more . . .

Prayer Points for the Jingpo

1. Pray that Jingpo believers will be bold in sharing their faith with their own people.

2. Praise God that economically and socially life has improved for the Jingpo in recent years. Despite their greater wealth, ask God to remind them of their need of Him as their Savior.

3. Pray that Jingpo believers will also go to neighboring people groups and other countries to fulfill the Great Commission.

Persecuted Church: the Dhor of South Asia
From South Asia Newsletter

Praise the Lord for the miraculous way He is moving among the Dhor people, an unreached, unengaged people group (UUPG). As a miraculous answer to prayer, people began believing in the power of Jesus but wanted someone to come and teach them. A local pastor consented to come. After one month, at least three families have committed their lives to Jesus. They meet weekly for house church, and others in the community are interested. The local Indian partner who reported this news says, "Share this wonderful news with them (those praying for the UUPGs), and tell them thanks. Tell them to keep praying. There are some challenges. All of the families who are interested in Jesus have been pushed out of the community. They are standing strong, but it is very difficult for them. They need us now." Lift up Dhors who are persecuted for their newfound faith in Jesus.
