Video clip pays tribute to slain hospital
workers
By Shawn Hendricks
RICHMOND, Va. (BP) -- A short video honoring the three Southern
Baptist hospital workers who were shot and killed in Yemen
Dec. 30 has been posted on the International Mission Board's
website.
The 60-second clip pays tribute to hospital administrator
William E. Koehn, who worked at the hospital for 28 years;
physician Martha C. Myers, who had served there for 25 years;
and purchasing agent Kathleen A. Gariety, who had worked
there 10 years.
In the video, IMB president Jerry Rankin assures the public
that these three missionaries did not give their lives in
vain.
“The reality of the fact is that they gave their lives
years ago to the people of Yemen,” says Rankin. “They
knew the risk that was involved, yet were obedient to God’s
call. People knew why they were there and what they believed,
and I believe that even in their death that impact will bear
fruit.”
