The Nama people were some of Namibia’s first dwellers, and they lived and worked on communal land. Centuries of being pushed out of their homelands has left them scattered throughout Namibia, with the largest concentration residing in the central part of the country. Presently, they number approximately 235,000. They are a people who know how to enjoy “today,” and community remains extremely important. Their culture is preserved through poetry, songs, stories, crafts, art and the community. Most have left the cultural religious practices of past generations and now align themselves with various groups that claim to be Christian, but they haven’t experienced the salvation of Jesus.
“But if someone obeys God’s teaching, then in that person God’s love has truly reached its goal. This is how we can be sure we are living in God: Whoever says that he lives in God must live as Jesus lived.” (1 John 2:5-6)
