Shirley Ann Fox, an International Mission Board missionary emeritus who shared the gospel in Thailand, died Oct. 15, 2024. She was 87.
Ann was born Jan. 10, 1937, in Moundville, Missouri, to the late Jay A. Robinson and Mildred Gilbert Robinson. She graduated from Walker High School and attended Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City.
On June 26, 1955, Ann married Hubert Fox. While attending an annual Baptist associational meeting together, they heard a message on stewardship. Ann wrote while seeking missionary appointment, “It was during these moments that I heard the voice of God as He spoke to my heart, and I knew beyond a doubt that He was calling me as a foreign missionary.” As the meeting closed, and they returned home, Hubert revealed to Ann that he, too, had felt the call of God. They became convinced this was God’s will for their lives and enrolled in seminary to prepare for missionary service.
In 1963, the International Mission Board appointed Hubert and Ann missionaries to Thailand. Ann served in home and church ministries, including as a teacher and musician. They served with the IMB for 34 years.
Ann is preceded in death by her son, Philip Fox.
She is survived by Hubert, her husband of 69 years; daughter Beth Gregory (Charles); daughter-in-law Cathy Fox; and nine grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held Oct. 19, at First Baptist Church in Nevada, Missouri, with burial in Moore Cemetery.
