Tea is served in the home of a Yezidi Kurdish family in Berlin. Yezidis are Kurds but they are not Muslims. Their belief system has its roots in Zoroastrianism and is convoluted to the point that its not uncommon to have a group of Yezidis disagree with one another on what they believe. Because of their minority status in Turkey many were heavily persecuted in the 1980’s and sought religious asylum in Germany.
