The “original” Buddha

The “original” Buddha, also known as Shakyamuni or Gautama, is recognized by both major strands of Buddhism, Mahayana and Hinayana (called Theravada in some countries). His image takes a number of predominant forms including this reclining version, seen in Singapore’s Lian Shan Shuang Lin temple.
