Please pray for three small disciple groups of a church comprised mostly of refugees. In addition to Sunday service, church members meet in small groups on Friday evenings to have a meal together, disciple each other, pray, and encourage one another in their faith. Please pray that each person who attends will grow in their relationship with God and develop a strong, personal walk with Him. Pray that these groups will be places of genuine fellowship, where people can be open about their struggles and receive encouragement. Also, please pray for those leading the groups that the Lord would give them wisdom, patience, and a heart to serve others well. Join the missionaries in praying that these gatherings not only strengthen believers but also become a way for non-believing refugees to experience the love of Christ and hear the gospel.pray4APAC@imb.org
(RYN, RUE-er) - For 20 days in May, a team of four young women from a California university will be going to Germany to "walk in ministry" with an IMB couple. They plan to go to two regions where there are few or no known Christians. Starting with individual prayer and prayerwalking as entry for evangelism, they will search for persons/houses of peace. The IMB couple is already partnering with local Germans who are prepared to do the follow-up with any people they find who are open to Jesus. Pray for God to give encouragement, perseverance, protection, and unity to this group of students. Ask God to open hearts to hear and believe the good news of the gospel and churches to be planted for the advancement of God's kingdom.
(broo-NEYE) - The city of Bandar Seri Begawan is the central hub of life in Brunei. The government holds offices there, and the largest, most famous mosques are there along with most of the economic activity for the country. This centralized location allows the government to tightly control many aspects of life, including faith. In Brunei, people live under Sharia law, which is very strict. Ask the Lord to soften the hearts of leaders who make decisions on behalf of citizens. Pray for the few churches to boldly share the gospel so that many in Brunei will come to salvation.pray4APAC@imb.org
An 18-member volunteer team from South Carolina will be serving in Panama during the last week of May. Please ask God to prepare their hearts. Pray that they will arrive ready and willing to be the hands and feet of Jesus and to have meaningful gospel conversations with those whom they encounter.
Faiza moved to Europe more than 20 years ago to start a new life with her husband and children. A family friend, who is a believer, recently moved to her city. The believer and Faiza have visited each other's homes and families. Recently, the believer went to Faiza's home for breakfast, and one of Faiza's friends came and joined them. The friend was really interested in the believer and asked how she knew Arabic and what she thought of Islam. The believer replied that she knew Arabic because she had lived in North Africa for a time and that she did not follow Islam. The believer told the friend, with Faiza within earshot, that she follows Jesus and believes that He lived, died, arose from the dead, and will return. Faiza's friend argued, saying that Jesus didn't really die. Faiza spoke up and said to her friend, "At least she believes in God," to get her friend to calm down. Faiza's friend agreed. Please pray that what was shared will resonate with both Faiza and her friend. Pray that the believer can have future visits with Faiza and that they can talk more about following Jesus, leading to salvation.
(n-GO-knee) - In the city of Songea (pronounced sohn-GAY-ah), the Ngoni people, being adherents of the Roman Catholic religion, live among, work with, and intermarry with Muslims from neighboring people groups such as the Yao (pronounced yow). The name of Jesus is known among both groups in the context of their respective religions. To one, He is the Son of God, and to the other, He was a great prophet. Both groups work hard at fulfilling the requirements and practices of their religion and depend upon human mediators to gain them access to God. Neither of them understands that a personal relationship with Jesus Christ is the only way to come to the Father who is in heaven. Ask the Lord to call those who are His true disciples to share the good news of Jesus faithfully and persistently with both groups in Songea and in its surrounding villages.
"Last week, I helped lead a training, and it was one of the best I've been a part of yet!" missionary explorer John Pratt said. "It was a great time with eight believers who will be researching unengaged, unreached people groups (UUPGs) for the next two months! All praise and Glory to God! Now, I am traveling with a younger college guy for the next couple weeks, showing how we do this gospel work. We met six teenagers from a UUPG who just prayed to trust in Jesus. We are working with a local pastor to plan to follow up with them as soon as possible. Please pray as we continue to research these groups. God is working and moving and provided many open doors."
Having a Bible is illegal on the islands where the Island Pearls live. With many obstacles in the way of gospel proclamation, how will these people ever come to know the Good Shepherd? By His grace, God is calling islanders out of the darkness to come to know the truth and follow Him. Please pray, as His plan for them is still being revealed. "The LORD reigns, let the earth rejoice; let the many coastlands be glad!" (Psalm 97:1 ESV).
"God, we pray for the 99% of the 57,500 Buryat people living in Mongolia who have yet to believe in Your name. Creative evangelistic methods are needed to be effective in reaching these geographically remote places. Strengthen weary pastors as they minister diligently in the churches. Give churches favor in the communities and add daily to their numbers those who are being saved. May the revised Bible translation soon be completed. 'For I satisfy the thirsty person and feed all those who are weak' (Jeremiah 31:25 CSB)."pray4APAC@imb.org
"And the scribes of the Pharisees, when they saw that he was eating with sinners and tax collectors, said to his disciples, 'Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?' And when Jesus heard it, he said to them, 'Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners'" (Mark 2:16-17 ESV). Pray that the Arabs in Flowertown will see their need for a Savior and realize that there is no way they can become righteous except through Christ alone. The majority may acknowledge that they do not always do right, but they believe that if they do enough of the right things, then they can stand righteous before God on their own and enter into Paradise. Pray that they will recognize their sin and their separation from God, understand that God is a holy God and cannot be in the presence of the unholy, and realize that Christ came and died so that they may become holy and righteous not from their works, but from His.
(ab-i-JAHN) - "For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body--Jews or Greeks, slaves or free--and all were made to drink of one Spirit" (1 Corinthians 12:13 ESV). Pray that Ivorian believers and Abidjan Urban Team members will continue to press forward in unity as they strive side by side for the sake of the gospel.
