Eid al-Adha, the Feast of Sacrifice, takes place this month. Muslims will gather in family units, sacrifice an animal, and remember the near sacrifice of Abraham’s son. Pray that as they watch the blood and life leave the body of the animal, they will sense the heaviness of their own sinfulness and need for a Savior, not an annual sacrifice, “for it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins” (Hebrews 10:4 CSB). Intercede for believers during this holiday as they share the good news of Jesus’ complete sacrifice on the behalf of the world. Pray that people whose hearts are discontent with their current religion and are hungry for more will be led to believers by the power of the Holy Spirit. “And to love him with all your heart, with all your understanding, and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself, is far more important than all the burnt offerings and sacrifices” (Mark 12:33 CSB).
